The company, which had its early origins in a two-car garage 20 miles north of New York City, began as a distributor of specialized equipment for LAN (Local Area Network) technology in 1985 and has since grown to become a $3 billion company employing 1,600 people worldwide.

During its first two decades in business, Westcon Group quickly gained economies of scale by expanding its distribution coverage across the U.S. and Canada, Europe and Australia.
