Western Lakota Receives $887,500 Payment and Closes Rig Sale to the Blood Tribe

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - Mar. 29, 2005) - Western Lakota Energy Services Inc. (WLE - TSX
Venture), announces that it has received an $887,500 payment and closed the sale of a 50% interest in
a drilling rig to the Blood Tribe. This payment is in addition to a $1.1 million non-refundable
deposit the Company received from the Blood Tribe in the second quarter of 2004. Prior to making
this payment, the Blood Tribe was earning a 28% net profit interest in the rig.

This drilling rig is now being held in a limited partnership formed by Western Lakota and the Blood
Tribe. This is the first rig owned in partnership with the Blood Tribe, which is located west of
Lethbridge in southwest Alberta. Western Lakota also owns rigs in partnership with the Dene Tha' First
Nation, Samson Cree Nation, Saddle Lake First Nation, Metis Nation of Alberta, Duncan's First Nation
and Horse Lake First Nation.
