lastminute.com has today announced it is looking to offer the ultimate 'silver lining' to unemployed Brits and signing its first official 'Globe Trotter'. Their role? To venture to destinations and experiences near and far, reporting back to the world via the lastminute.com blog.

Research out today reveals that almost half (42%) of British workers would like to do something completely different with their time if they were out of work, and a job involving travel is top of the list.

For unemployed Brits in need of a career break, the opportunity entails venturing to a series of destinations throughout the summer, experiencing new and fantastic places every day, and reviewing the best of the good stuff lastminute.com has to offer - including flights, hotels, gigs, restaurants and theatre shows - reporting back via the lastminute.com blog.

Officially they are the leading travel and leisure retailer's first reviewer for the site, unofficially they are being sent on the summer experience of a lifetime and sending a virtual postcard from every destination they visit. Once selected, the chosen applicant will embark on a packed three months of travel and other unbelievable experiences, racking up an impressive itinerary that includes:

- Travelling over 32,000 miles

- Spending over 60 nights away

- Visiting eight cities across three continents - in three months - which could include Dubai, New York, Egypt, Paris, Barcelona, and Las Vegas.

- Experiencing a 5 star lifestyle - equivalent to GBP 20,000

'40% of UK workplaces have been affected by the current economic climate so we are expecting a positive response' said lastminute.com's Lifestyle expert, Mark Bower. 'There are some incredible people out there and as a company that champions making the most of free time, lastminute.com wants to help the nation enjoy its way out of the doom and gloom'.
