Women in Leadership Foundation's Ontario Women in Business Luncheon: Managing Change and Sustainability

Moderated By CBC's Dianne Buckner

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 26, 2009) - The Women In Leadership Foundation (WIL) will be hosting its 3rd Annual Ontario Women in Business Luncheon: Managing Change and Sustainability on Thursday, October 29, 2009, from 11am – 1:30pm, at the Design Exchange.

The luncheon, presented by TD Bank Financial Group, is a part of a National Speaker Series showcasing female role models in business and fostering the expansion of networks. WIL, in partnership with the Province of Ontario, is running a one year GREEN WORKS project which will assist industry in attracting skilled female workers and bringing together key stakeholders to collaboratively build a national strategy. One of the key initiatives for the GREEN WORKS project is the Ontario Women in Business Luncheon featuring six inspirational business women leaders who will share their green philosophies and stories of success.

"Canada is facing a severe shortage of workers in the environmental sector. There are over 500,000 environmental workers employed in Canada and the sector is projecting strong demand for highly skilled occupations. The supply for these workers will have to come from immigration, women (which lag behind national averages) and more training of young people," said Maya Kanigan, President and Founder, Women in Leadership Foundation.

Along with the Province of Ontario, the Women in Leadership Foundation have taken a research-driven approach to address gender equity in the workforce. The focus has been on studies in attracting, recruiting and retaining women in financial services, engineering, environmental, mining and construction industries.
