Woodward Announces Halbrook Retirement and Re-election as Chairman

ROCKFORD, IL -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 25, 2006 -- Woodward Governor Company (NASDAQ: WGOV) announced today that John A. Halbrook, 60, Chairman of the Board, announced at the Annual Shareholders Meeting his retirement as an officer and member of the company, moving from an executive to a non-executive member of the board of directors. This change is in line with Woodward's long-standing and previously disclosed succession plans.

Today, the company's shareholders elected Mr. Halbrook for an additional three-year term, and the Board re-elected him Chairman. "In my 21 years with Woodward, I have been privileged to help guide a growing company into a new century.
