TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 4, 2007) - "World Teachers' Day on October 5 is a celebration of the efforts and successes of teachers and educational workers across the world and here in Ontario," stated Ken Coran, President of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation. "The consistent quality and excellence of public education is due to their dedication."

World Teachers' Day, which is sponsored by Education International and UNESCO, is celebrated in over 100 countries around the world. The theme of this year's day is "Quality Teachers for Quality Education"!

"It is our teachers and educational workers who ensure that Ontario's students receive a quality education which prepares them for life in the 21st century," added Ken Coran. World Teachers' Day is an opportunity for everyone to reflect on the role of educators in our society and to recommit to quality public education in Ontario."
