The Wyndham Montréal Aeroport is proud to provide "Help for Haiti" in more ways than one. Since the recent earthquake, a section of the hotel has served as a transition centre for thousands of displaced Canadians and Haitians as they are reunited with loved ones. To date, a total of 3,496 evacuees from 39 flights have been successfully repatriated.

The large-scale operation—which provides evacuees access to basic necessities such as food and clothing, as well as counselling and other humanitarian services—has run smoothly and efficiently thanks to the collaboration of numerous provincial, federal and non-governmental organizations and volunteers working around the clock.

According to Kevin Gillespie, General Manager of the Wyndham Montréal Aeroport, "this massive undertaking is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the hotel staff in conjunction with volunteers and professionals from organizations including the Canadian Red Cross, Mediquad, the Organisation de la sécurité civile du Québec (Quebec's Civil Security), Public Safety Canada and Sun Youth Emergency Services."

In addition to its pivotal role assisting earthquake evacuees, the hotel remains open to vacationers and corporate travelers visiting Montreal. To support the emergency relief and long-term reconstructive effort in Haiti, the Wyndham hotel has initiated a "Help for Haiti" program, and will donate $10 for every room booked during the month of February to the Canadian Red Cross Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund.

"The success of any disaster response is only as strong as the support given from individuals and companies like the Wyndham hotel. We sincerely thank them for their support, which is instrumental in raising shelters, reuniting families, providing clean water and most importantly giving hope to millions of people in need," said Michel Léveillé, General Manager, Canadian Red Cross, Quebec Division.

"We are privileged to support the exceptional work of organizations like the Canadian Red Cross, both in Montreal and on the ground in Haiti. Many of our staff have family there, so this cause is especially dear to our hearts," added Mr. Gillespie. "I could not be more proud of our team for their ongoing hard work and grace under pressure."
