XO Communications Expands Broadband Wireless Coverage Across Northern Virginia

Provides Businesses With Alternative High-Speed Network Access and Redundancy

HERNDON, VA--(Marketwire - April 5, 2010) -  XO Communications (OTCBB: XOHO) today announced that it has expanded its carrier-grade broadband wireless coverage across the Washington, DC region with the deployment of a new wireless hub in the Tysons Corner area of Northern Virginia. The expansion gives businesses a robust alternative for high-speed network services and provides an ideal solution for companies in need of an additional level of network redundancy and business continuity.

As the nation's largest holder of Local Multipoint Distribution System (LMDS) spectrum with licenses in 80 metropolitan markets across the United States, XO Communications leverages this wireless technology to extend the reach of its 19,000-mile nationwide fiber network. From wireless hubs deployed on its fiber network, XO Communications can connect customer locations directly to its network via high-speed point-to-point wireless links at speeds from 10 Mbps to 1 Gbps to deliver a number of services including VoIP, Ethernet, MPLS IP-VPN and private line services as well as network redundancy and business continuity solutions.

XO Communications' broadband wireless coverage spans the greater Washington, DC region, across all of Washington, DC and suburbs of Northern Virginia and Maryland. With multiple wireless hubs deployed across the region, XO Communications can deliver voice and data services via broadband wireless links to businesses as far west as Dulles International Airport, as far east as Lanham, Maryland, as far north as Rockville and Beltsville, Maryland, and as far south as Mount Vernon, Virginia.

XO Delivers Network Redundancy
XO Communications' new wireless hub in the Tysons Corner area of Northern Virginia is specifically designed to provide businesses with an additional level of network redundancy in the event of network outages caused by natural events such as extreme weather, fiber cuts due to large construction projects, or other uncontrollable circumstances.

"XO's expanded broadband wireless capabilities opens the door to a wider world of options for high-speed network access for businesses across the region that do not have fiber access at their locations or lack a wide range of alternatives providers," said Billy Becker, general manager of the Washington, DC market for XO Communications. "This expansion is part of our continuing focus to provide businesses with innovative high-speed network services."
