XRamp Security Services Becomes First Certification Authority to Pass Audit for Issuing New Extended Validation Certificates
New SSL Digital Certificate Security Feature Includes Green Internet Address Bar for Browsers to Prevent Phishing
SAN ANTONIO, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- November 29, 2006 -- XRamp Security Services, a wholly owned
subsidiary of SecureTrust Corporation and a global leader in providing
high-quality security solutions for organizations requiring secure
communications, today announced that they are the first Certification
Authority (CA) to have passed the pre-issuance readiness audit for issuing
the new Extended Validation (EV) certificates for Internet browsers.
The audit was performed by the same auditor who manages the annual WebTrust
audit and issued XRamp the WebTrust Seal of Approval earlier in the year.
The comprehensive audit is the first to provide unified criteria for all
CAs. Areas included in the audit were:
-Verification procedures for identity and trustworthiness of all
employees, agents or independent contractors
-Skills training on public key infrastructure (PKI) knowledge
-Separation of validation and authorization duties for issuance of EV
-Strict documentation and audit trail requirements
-Data security based on a comprehensive data security plan
The new browser security features are expected to take effect at the end of
January with the official release of Microsoft Vista, as well as an update
to Internet Explorer 7 which will include a URL address bar that turns
green to inform users a web site is secure and has a valid EV certificate.
"We're proud to be the first CA to pass this important milestone," said
Scott Harris, President of XRamp. "We believe demand will be strong as
businesses get on board with these new features that will help advance
security for the online community."
