Xterprise Co-Sponsors Aberdeen Group Research Report: "Winning Strategies for RFID in 2008"

Companies Are Discovering Significant Value Addressing Processes Beyond Mandated Compliance

DALLAS, TX--(Marketwire - January 11, 2008) - Xterprise Incorporated, the leading global supplier of Solutions for the High Definition Enterprise™ and a Gold-Certified Microsoft™ ISV partner, announced that it is a co-sponsor of a comprehensive research report released today that identifies the significant business benefits that companies using radio frequency identification (RFID) technologies are gaining. The research report is titled "Winning RFID Strategies for 2008," and is published by Aberdeen Group, a Harte-Hanks company (NYSE: HHS).

The new report highlights results from multiple Aberdeen Group survey-based benchmark studies of RFID use in manufacturing, retail, and other industries. The report offers specific, vendor-neutral, business-centric analysis and their recommendations which help all types and sizes of enterprises benefit from the maximum advantages of RFID that are within and beyond corporate supply chains. A significant finding was that 100% of the "Best-in-Class" companies using RFID reduced process failure incidents by at least 20%, and improved process throughput by at least 10%.

"These positive results will set the stage for broader RFID deployments in 2008 and beyond," said Michael Dortch, Senior Analyst at Aberdeen Group. "Additionally, RFID solutions are also improving their functionality and becoming easier to integrate with IT infrastructures and key business applications, while also declining in price. These developments are making it faster, easier, and less expensive for RFID deployments to deliver increasing business benefits."

As enterprises pursue and achieve business benefits from RFID deployments, their RFID solutions, technologies, and vendor selection strategies are creating more opportunities for success. A critical factor in each success is a greater focus on business process visibility, improvement, and optimization.

"Companies are discovering the value of moving to real-world, data-driven processes now available with RFID," said Jim Caudill, senior vice president of Marketing and Strategy Xterprise. "They are using RFID solutions, such as those available from Xterprise, to transition from low-resolution to high-definition enterprises -- significantly improving control and visibility of high value assets, reusable transport and business items, work in process and finished goods inventory, receiving and retail promotions."

More than a third of manufacturers surveyed by the Aberdeen Group (34%) cited asset tracking as the primary objective of their RFID initiatives, with production efficiency (24%) and supply chain visibility (19%) following close behind on their list of priorities. Among retailers surveyed, more than two-thirds (68%) cited improving process visibility as a key incentive in their RFID adoption, with almost as many (64%) citing asset tracking. These and other findings featured in the report demonstrate that RFID technology has evolved beyond traditional "slap-and-ship" and "track-and-trace" applications.

Aberdeen Group's "Winning RFID Strategies for 2008" also includes RFID readiness assessment criteria and discussions on how RFID technology has significantly impacted business and IT infrastructures within those organizations.
