MARKHAM, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - June 17, 2010) - On Monday June 7th, Markham Theatre officially unveiled the upcoming Fall 2010 - Spring 2011 Season with a sampling of featured artists from Michael Burgess, Patricia O'Callaghan, Brian Roman, Judy and David, Theatre Sans Fil - "The Hobbit" and Adam György.

The 26th Season at Markham Theatre is the most diverse ever presented with artists and productions from Asia, South Asia, Australia, Europe, South America, United States and Canada. 

"Bringing the world to the Markham Theatre stage is so relevant to the community we are serving. The make up of Markham is diverse and sophisticated, we are responding by introducing the most diverse, progressive and exclusive programs ever presented," said Theatre Manager, Eric Lariviere. 

Markham Theatre's mission is to be a catalyst to build and sustain a strong creative community through live arts. The theme for the 10.11 Season is Live Arts Matters-.

The 10.11 Season will showcase globally-Ontario premieres and debut presentations including: The National Dance Company of Ireland presents Rhythm of the Dance. This two-hour dance and music extravaganza has played to over 4.5 million fans in 33 countries worldwide and along with River Dance, with which it is compared, has heralded a new era of Irish entertainment. You can experience the most diverse and largest productions ever presented at Markham Theatre with Rhythm of the Dance and JIGU! Thunder Drums of China. This season Markham Theatre will be introducing a new Performing Arts Series featuring World Stage, Totally Classical, Jazz Divas, Fabulous Footwork, Great Canadian Performers, Nostalgia and Family Fun

The 10.11 Season features over 33 artists and over 60 performances during the annual season which runs from September 2010 to April 2011. "Let the world come to Markham Theatre and celebrate the diversity of the new 10.11 season," said Mayor Frank Scarpitti.
