Zodiac Interactive Announces PowerUp™ 2.5 to Allow Interaction Between the Cable Set-Top and Mobile Devices

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - January 11, 2010) - Zodiac Interactive, an Emmy award-winning developer of software for interactive television, announced today the next version of its iTV framework, PowerUp 2.5™, a cross-platform software that unifies and enables advanced iTV applications across multiple set-tops, including legacy boxes. The latest iteration of Zodiac's core framework, PowerUp 2.5, allows mobile and internet devices and applications to integrate and work directly with the set-top.

PowerUp 2.5 is a free upgrade available to all existing PowerUp clients with current support agreements. This new version exposes advanced APIs that allow MSOs to establish and customize the communication between mobile and internet connected devices and the set-top box.

"The growth in mobile devices is igniting an explosion in mobile applications and changing consumer behavior, and we're excited to be in a position to further that growth by enhancing the interaction between the TV/set-top and mobile devices," said Zodiac's President Mike Rivkin. "We realized that we needed to expose set-top boxes that run PowerUp to other devices in the home. Therefore, with PowerUp 2.5, we are extending its reach into consumer internet and mobile devices."

Zodiac plans to demonstrate PowerUp 2.5 functionality for the first time at the upcoming National Cable and Telecommunications Association (NCTA) conference, The Cable Show, in Los Angeles May 11-13, 2010.
