Zov Karamardian Continues 20th Anniversary Year With OC Business Journal's Prestigious Women in Business Award

TUSTIN, CA--(Marketwire - May 29, 2007) - Successful restaurateur Zov Karamardian, founder and executive chef of Zov's Bistro in Tustin, was one of five businesswomen presented with the 2007 Women in Business Award at the Orange County Business Journal's awards luncheon on May 25.

Zov received her award at the 13th annual luncheon, which attracted more than 800 prominent businesswomen and men from Orange County to the Hyatt Regency Irvine. Nearly 160 outstanding businesswomen had been nominated, but only five were selected for the prestigious honor.

Zov's Bistro, located in Enderle Center in Tustin, is one of the most recognized restaurants in Orange County and Zov has received local, national and international accolades, including "Restaurateur of the Year" by the California Restaurant Writers, Chef of The Year by the California Governor's Office and the James Beard Angel Award. Zov began with a home-based catering business in 1987 and today serves more than 1,200 customers each day.

The newest honor comes as Zov's Bistro celebrates its 20th anniversary in business -- a successful charity benefit was held in early May and, after 20 years in one location, the Karamardian family opened its second restaurant this year in Newport Coast and a third will open in Irvine later this year.

"This has been a whirlwind year," Zov said. "I'm very proud to have been chosen to receive this award, to be recognized like this in Orange County is very meaningful to me. I am fortunate to be surrounded in business with my wonderful family, and I am thankful for the loyal support we have received all these years from people who enjoy dining with us.

"We are thrilled that our second location in Newport Coast has been so well-received already," she added. "Zov's Bistro is Tustin will always be our flagship restaurant, and our second and third locations are designed to bring the same quality and style -- but we also intend to make each new location special in its own way."

Zov's Bistro serves the finest Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine in a chic, yet comfortable, environment. Zov, who has shared her kitchen with culinary legends including Julia Child and "kick it up a notch" Emeril Lagasse, is also known for her cookbook, "Zov: Recipes and Memories from the Heart," which was an instant success and is currently in its second printing.

Zov was recognized for her business successes as well as her ongoing philanthropic endeavors, including generous donations of her talent and dollars to a wide variety of causes, in addition to teaching culinary courses and creating scholarships for underprivileged high school students.
