A Day of Recognition and Celebration for Quebec Chartered Accountants

QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Oct. 15, 2010) - This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Quebec City CA Group and the 130th anniversary of the Ordre des comptables agréés du Québec. A day of activities under the theme "Active capital for your success!" was held in Quebec City on September 30 to celebrate these two important milestones for Quebec CAs.

Participants at this event had an opportunity to attend a number of activities, including a roundtable on "Productivity and the workforce: today's challenges and issues"; a presentation by Marc Laliberté, president and CEO of VIA Rail; and the much-anticipated banquet during which several CAs were honoured.

"This unique event was an ideal opportunity to network and look back on 75 years of existence of the Quebec City CA Group. We were very pleased to welcome colleagues from across the province to these festivities and we can certainly say that this event was a success," commented Vicky Poirier, CA, CAIFA, president of the Quebec City CA Group.

During an evening filled with emotion and fond memories, the Ordre presented the Outstanding Achievement Award to an FCA whose career was marked by exceptional achievements. Recognition Awards were also presented to deserving CAs in acknowledgement of their ongoing leadership, dynamism, volunteer work and excellence. In addition, the Québec Interprofessional Council (QIC) presented the QIC Award of Merit to an outstanding CA.

"The Quebec City CA Group is well known for its initiatives and dynamism. The Ordre is very proud to recognize the exemplary contribution made by CAs who are noted for their unfailing commitment and to have been able to do so during this 75th anniversary celebration. The recipients of the various Ordre awards are exceptional individuals who enhance the reputation of the CA profession and raise the bar for success year after year," said Alain Côté, FCA, Chair of the Ordre.
