A SONG FOR MOTHER'S DAY

THE STORY BEHIND DAVID HENMAN’S "MOTHER OF MINE"

Attention: Arts/Entertainment Editor, Lifestyle Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO, MEDIA ADVISORY--(CCNMatthews - April 23, 2007) - A few years ago, former April Wine guitarist David Henman's mother was given a prestigious award for her many years of volunteer work for an organization whose goal it is to help women in difficulty. His father suggested that David write a song for her to mark this momentous event. According to David, "As fate would have it, I had been developing an idea for a song that was a tribute to an anonymous woman and, at the same time, all women. Now, I had a more defined focus for the lyrics of the song, and once the words "mother of mine" magically appeared at the end of each chorus, the rest just seemed to fall into place. Shortly thereafter, I was given the opportunity to sing this song for my mother during the award ceremony."

It was thought by those who heard the song and were touched by its' message that Mother Of Mine might actually be a great new way to express gratitude and love for all mothers on Mother's Day. With his new group, The David Henman Band, they recorded the song and called upon some close friends to help with the final touches to the recording and then released Mother Of Mine to the public on Bullseye Records April 1st.

Adds David Henman, "There is an underlying sadness in the lyric and tone that comes from our inability to adequately convey our indebtedness and appreciation for all of the sacrifices, all of the love, care, and nurturing, not to mention the guidance and direction that we receive from our mothers."
