EMERYVILLE, CA--(Marketwired - Feb 11, 2014) - Tim Condon has been named President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AAA Northern California, Nevada and Utah AAA (NCNU), the third largest AAA affiliate with more than 4.1 million members. The new role is effective March 10, 2014.
Condon has an extensive track record of operating businesses in the insurance, banking, travel, roadside assistance, and automotive sectors for both the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) and Canadian Tire Corporation. He also holds several leadership posts within the North American Automobile Club Federation -- spanning the U.S. and Canada.
Most recently, Condon served more than four years as the CEO of the British Columbia Automobile Association (BCAA) in Canada. During his leadership, BCAA won multiple JD Power Awards for Highest Customer Satisfaction, achieved status as one of the "Best 50 Employers in Canada," won back-to-back AAA Strategic Blueprint awards for Best in Class Insurance Operations, and last year received the highest AAA federation honor for roadside assistance repair quality. BCAA also posted four years of continuous membership growth during his time as CEO.
BCAA made significant community and social contributions under Condon's direction. The organization increased employee volunteerism from 11% to 60% and received the "Greatest Impact among Large Employers" award by the United Way. Condon also championed signature traffic safety initiatives such as School Safety Patrol and child passenger safety programs for families-in-need. Demonstrating its commitment to environmental sustainability, BCAA also significantly lowered its carbon footprint.
At Canadian Tire Corporation, one of Canada's largest and most-trusted public companies, Condon served in a variety of roles, including Chief Strategy Officer, for almost eighteen years. While at Canadian Tire Corporation, he launched a retail banking venture, ran a roadside assistance business, served as the president of a travel company, acquired over a dozen automotive operations, and operated multi-line insurance businesses.
"Tim Condon is a strong believer in the AAA brand and membership business model, and is known for developing leaders and creating a great work environment," said Wayne Moon, AAA NCNU Chairman of the Board, in an announcement to AAA NCNU employees. "We look forward to working with him to continue to deliver AAA's legendary member service, and making our organization an even better place to work."
Interim co-CEO's Marc Loupe and Siobhan McFeeney will resume their full-time focus as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer respectively.
