WHAT: AAA Texas and the Greater Houston Safe Kids coalition will host a free child safety seat inspection from 2 PM to 5 PM at the Humble Convention Center located at 8233 Will Clayton Parkway in Humble, TX. WHY: "Past inspections have shown that parents are not installing their child safety seats correctly," said AAA Texas spokeswoman, Rose Rougeau. "Installation is not a simple procedure due to the diversity of safety seats marketed by different manufacturers and the various restraint systems offered in motor vehicles today," added Rougeau. In Texas, motorists can be stopped and cited for lack of or improper safety restraint. Interested parents need to simply bring the following with them to the safety seat inspection: their automobile, their child who rides in the safety seat and the safety seat. Law enforcement, firefighters and other nationally certified child passenger safety technicians will teach parents how to properly install the safety seat, check to see if the seat is in good working condition and check for safety recalls. WHEN: Monday, July 23, 2007 (2 PM to 5 PM) WHERE: Humble Convention Center, 8233 Will Clayton Parkway, Humble, TX INFO: For more information about the child safety seat inspection, please visit www.safekidsgreaterhouston.org.Safe Kids Greater Houston is a coalition comprised of health and safety experts, educators, corporations, foundations, government agencies, and volunteers who come together to educate and protect families.
