Pump Prices Up for Week Three

HOUSTON, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- February 23, 2007 -- The statewide average price for self-serve regular gasoline posted a weekly jump of four cents per gallon, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.

Amarillo tops the list for the highest average price at $2.26 a gallon -- up four cents. The cheapest gas on the survey is in Corpus Christi and San Antonio at $2.08 a gallon. Corpus Christi went up six cents, and San Antonio increased four cents.

"The higher retail gas prices are due to recent increases in the cost of crude oil which edged above $60 a barrel this week," said Rose Rougeau spokeswoman for AAA Texas. "Also, refineries in the U.S. are nearing their annual switch to cleaner-burning summer grade fuels, which result in higher retail prices."

The national average is $2.29 a gallon -- a weekly increase of five cents.
