AAA Texas: Weekend Gas Watch
Second Week of Price Declines
HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwire - January 25, 2008) - For the second straight week, gasoline prices
decreased across the state, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.
The statewide average price dropped four cents to $2.90 a gallon, which is
85 cents higher than the statewide average one year ago. The national
average is $3.01 a gallon, down almost four cents in a week.
"Wholesale gasoline prices have dropped in Texas and across the country on
news of high inventories and a lower growth in demand," said AAA Texas
spokesperson Rose Rougeau. "Analysts say turbulence in the financial
markets worldwide may also be affecting both crude oil and wholesale
gasoline prices."
El Paso has the lowest average on the list at $2.83 a gallon -- down two
cents from last week. Beaumont has the highest at $2.91 a gallon -- down
almost five cents from last week.
