AAAASF Board President Earns Career Achievement Award

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - June 01, 2015) - Dr. Foad Nahai was presented a career achievement award during The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) Meeting 2015 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada May 16. The meeting is an annual gathering of the world's leading aesthetic plastic surgeons.

Dr. Al Aly, president of the Aesthetic Society Education and Research Foundation, presented the award. Nahai currently serves as president of the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF). He is a professor of surgery at Emory University in Atlanta.

Nahai's primary area of expertise is in face, neck and eyelid surgery where he has made significant contributions to the advancement of the art and science of facial rejuvenation. He is internationally recognized as an innovator in the field of plastic surgery where he has developed and refined many procedures. He has co-authored 10 books and published more than 200 scientific articles on all aspects of plastic surgery. The latest book he authored and edited, published in 2011, is the second edition of his three-volume text entitled, "The Art of Aesthetic Surgery."

He has been invited to lecture and demonstrate plastic surgical procedures all over the world. In addition to numerous professional honors and awards, he is listed in the "Best Doctors in America," the "Best Doctors in the U.S.," Town & Country Magazine, Good Housekeeping, More Magazine and Atlanta Magazine as one of the country's top plastic surgeons. He has been listed in W Magazine as one of the top plastic surgeons in the world.

Nahai served as the 2008-2010 president of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), is a past president of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), a former director of the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is currently Editor-in-Chief of Aesthetic Surgery Journal.

Also during The Aesthetic Meeting 2015, Dr. Michael Edwards and other attendees joined AAAASF in celebrating its 35thyear of promoting the highest quality patient safety in the ambulatory surgery setting, as well as rehabilitation and outpatient therapy agencies and rural health clinics. Edwards is an AAAASF board member, president of ASAPS and the Clark County Medical Society in Nevada.

The American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, Inc. (AAAASF) was established in 1980 to standardize and improve the quality of medical and surgical care in outpatient facilities and assure the public that patient safety is top priority in an accredited facility. More than 2,200 outpatient facilities are accredited by AAAASF, one of the largest not-for-profit accrediting organizations in the United States. Surgeons, legislators, state and national health agencies and patients acknowledge that AAAASF sets the "gold standard" for quality patient care.

AAAASF programs include surgical, procedural, oral maxillofacial, international surgical and dental.
