AAEQ Manufacturers and Recyclers Serves as Clearinghouse for Clark County Lawn Mower Exchange Program

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - June 26, 2008) - AAEQ Manufacturers and Recyclers in North Las Vegas is serving as the recycling center for Clark County residents who want to exchange their gas lawn mower for a new zero-emission, cordless electric model. The Clark County Lawn Mower Exchange Program (LMEP), which started on June 23, is designed to help reduce pollution in the Las Vegas metropolitan area.

Scott Stolberg, president and CEO of AAEQ Manufacturers and Recyclers, says the company is proud to participate in the program that can help clean up the air in Las Vegas.

"Exchanging dirty combustion-engine mowers will only help reduce particulate matters that pollute our area. Gas lawn mowers are heavy-hitters when it comes to air pollution which can worsen respiratory and cardiac conditions," said Stolberg. "We are pleased that Clark County chose our company to serve as the recycling point for this program."

After completing an application/voucher from the Clark County Department of Air Quality & Environmental Management (DAQEM), residents can take their old mowers to AAEQ for recycling. AAEQ will provide residents with a recycling verification code for obtaining a new electric mower. Under the LMEP, new electric mowers, valued at $400, are being sold to residents direct from the manufacturer for only $99.

Clark County officials estimate that just one gas-powered lawn mower used for a year can pollute the air as much as 40 new or late-model cars driven over that same period.
