AAFC/Media Advisory: Canada-Ontario Water Supply Expansion Program Accepting Applications for Tier Two and Three Projects

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 9, 2005) - The first round application deadline for Tier Two and Three projects is November 30, 2005.



Through the program, applications will be accepted for:

- Multi-user infrastructure projects (Tier Two), such as regional
multi-user and pipelines and water source development projects
which provide water to a number of agricultural water users.

- Strategic Works (Tier Three) which include infrastructure
feasibility studies, demonstration of innovative technology or
practices, information and extension activities, organization
capacity development, studies providing information for future
water development, and watershed and aquifer water supply
management plans.


Through the program, Canadian producer and agricultural groups can apply for technical and financial assistance for agricultural water supply projects. Eligible applicants include incorporated groups of farmers, agricultural and conservation groups, rural municipalities, agribusinesses, rural enterprises and educational institutions. Non-agricultural applicants must have agricultural partners.
