OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 3, 2005) - Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Minister Andy Mitchell today announced the proposed re-appointment of John Core as the Chair of the Canadian Dairy Commission (CDC). The proposed appointment has been referred to the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Agri-Food.

"I am very pleased to announce Mr. Core's proposed re-appointment as Chair," said Minister Mitchell. "His knowledge and leadership skills built up through many years of experience in the dairy sector have served him very well over the last three years with the Canadian Dairy Commission. I am confident he will continue to make a valuable contribution to the CDC's important work."

Mr. Core was first appointed Chair of the Canadian Dairy Commission in 2002.

Mr. Core holds a masters degree from the University of Guelph. He was a lecturer at Ridgetown College in Ontario at the beginning of his career.
