AAFC: Sharon E. White Appointed to Farm Credit Canada

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 19, 2006) - The Honourable Chuck Strahl, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and Minister for the Canadian Wheat Board, today announced that the Governor in Council has approved his recommendation to appoint Sharon E. White to be Director of Farm Credit Canada.

"I congratulate Ms. White on her appointment," said Minister Strahl. "I am confident that the expertise in corporate law Ms. White brings to her position will help Canada's farm businesses and our agriculture industry as a whole succeed and prosper today and in the years to come."

Farm Credit Canada has been offering financial and business services to the agricultural community since 1959, and actively partners with other financial and agricultural institutions to finance a wide range of farm-related projects to help strengthen rural Canada.

The appointment is effective immediately.

Biographical Notes - Sharon E. White

A graduate of the University of British Columbia, Sharon E. White has been practicing law since 1981. She is a specialist in corporate/commercial and corporate finance law. Most recently, Ms. White has served as a Director of Fresh Xtend Technologies Corp., a company involved in the development and commercialization of life extension technologies for the fresh produce and flower industries. She is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia, the Canadian Bar Association, and a past member of the Bermuda Bar Association and the Council of Canadian Administrative Tribunals.
