Aaron Chang Ocean Art Gallery Commissioned for Cedros Avenue Street Banners

SOLANA BEACH, CA--(Marketwire - Jul 26, 2011) - World renowned ocean art photographer Aaron Chang and internationally acclaimed artist Wade Koniakowsky have been commissioned to create a series of street banners for Cedros Avenue Design District, and Cedros South, a new area that is being created by merchants in the area. The street banners start at Lomas Santa Fe, and will draw attention to the southern end of the avenue known for its art galleries and distinct shops and entertainment.

Visitors to the south end of Cedors Avenue will be welcomed by a redesign that when completed by October will include additional cross walks, little islands, public art, sitting areas and other features.

"It's all designed to create a sense of 'place' in the community, link the businesses and invite the public to mingle, shop and discover a part of Cedros they probably aren't familiar with," said Sean MacLeod, a founder of Cedros Avenue Design District and major property owner in the area. "By creating 'Cedros South' we're yanking the center of gravity on Cedros to the south end, where all these wonderful and creative shopkeepers are located."

There are eight double-panel banners featuring the ocean art photography of Aaron Chang and six different single-panel banners featuring Chang's work as well as two that feature the ocean art painting of Wade Koniakowsky.

"These banners help call attention to the fact that there is so much going on at the south end of Cedros," explained Aaron Chang, co-owner of the Aaron Chang Ocean Art Gallery. "Visitors to this area tend to linger at the north end of the street and when they get to the short spot where there is an office building, they think there is nothing left to see and do. That couldn't be farther from the truth."

In fact, a large bicycle sculpture, "Love My Bike" by Amos Robinson, has been commissioned to be installed directly in front of the Aaron Chang Ocean Art Gallery.

"It's a tall sculpture, so anyone at the north end of Cedros can't miss it. They'll definitely get curious and want to come south to check it out," added Wade Koniakowsky, co-owner of the Aaron Chang Ocean Art Gallery.

That's the intent of the Cedros South branding plan, according to MacLeod. "We're making this part of Cedros a destination."
