The San Diego Business Journal hosted its signature 21st annual Women Who Mean Business awards event honoring San Diego's outstanding women on Wednesday, Nov. 5, at the Town and Country Hotel in Mission Valley. The event is the longest running event of its kind in the city and was attended by more than 830 local leaders. Women from many diverse fields and backgrounds came together to honor those who have excelled in their professional lives, as well as contributed to the vitality of our many cultural, arts, education and social service institutions.

Special Awards of Distinction also were presented to Anne Evans for the Lifetime Achievement Award; Lucy Killea for the Spirit of San Diego Award; Dr. Constance Carroll for the Darlene Marcos Shiley Education Leadership Award; Thella Bowens for the Exemplary Service Award; and Rana Sampson for the Community Service Award.
