Abdelak Adjriou Joins American Century Investments' Global Fixed Income Portfolio Management Team

KANSAS CITY, MO--(Marketwired - March 21, 2016) - American Century Investments announced the addition of Vice President and Portfolio Manager Abdelak Adjriou to the teams managing its Global Fixed Income (Global Bond Fund) and Non-U.S. Fixed Income (International Bond Fund) strategies. Formerly with HSBC Global Asset Management, Adjriou joins American Century's fixed income rates and currency markets team, where he provides local rates expertise in both developed and emerging markets. Adjriou joined the firm on March 14.

"With the hiring of Abdelak, an experienced local rates portfolio manager, we continue the multi-year expansion of our global fixed income capabilities," said John Lovito, co-lead of American Century's rates and currency markets team and a senior vice president and senior portfolio manager. "In the past two years alone, we've added four emerging markets debt investment professionals, averaging 14 years of industry experience. Abdelak's skills are a strong complement to those across the broader global fixed income team."

Adjriou joins American Century from HSBC, where he's served in various investment management capacities since 2004. For the past three years, he's been a fixed income portfolio manager responsible for local rates emerging market funds and mandates. From 2006 through 2013, he managed global and European fixed income mandates and an absolute return government bond fund. Prior to that, he was a quantitative analyst, where he developed risk management tools and priced and managed rates, credit and volatility risks for multiple fixed income and derivative securities.

Earlier in his career, Adjriou was a fixed income trader with Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank (formerly Calyon). He holds master's degrees in stochastic calculus from Jussieu Paris VII and computer science from ESSI (ENSI Group).

Generally, as interest rates rise, the value of the securities held in bond funds will decline. The opposite is true when interest rates decline.

International investing involves special risks, such as political instability and currency fluctuations. Investing in emerging markets may accentuate these risks.

The lower rated securities in which the fund invests are subject to greater credit risk, default risk and liquidity risk.

You should consider a fund's investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses carefully before you invest. A fund's prospectus or summary prospectus, which can be obtained by visiting, contains this and other information about the fund, and should be read carefully before investing.
