Aberdeen Group Launches New Green IT and Sustainability Research Practice

Seasoned Industry Analysts to Lead New Practice

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - August 5, 2009) - Aberdeen Group, a Harte-Hanks Company (NYSE: HHS) announced today the formation of a new Green IT and Sustainability research practice.

Bill Lesieur has joined the firm as Research Director to launch the practice with Green IT thought-leader Carol Baroudi. Lesieur brings 25 years of business research and IT industry experience with him to Aberdeen's newest research practice. Baroudi, a seasoned industry analyst and best-selling author, recently completed her latest book, "Green IT For Dummies" (Wiley & Sons) in April 2009.

"I was impressed with Aberdeen's unparalleled capabilities to drive insightful research through its extensive community of business users and organizations," said Lesieur. "Aberdeen provides the ultimate 'reality check' on business performance and technology adoption."

Veteran research director Carol Baroudi formally shifts her research focus from IT Security to Green IT. "I've spent the last year researching these topics for 'Green IT For Dummies,' and am passionate about educating organizations around these issues. Green IT impacts all businesses," comments Baroudi. "Every organization is in a position to be more responsible and can likely save cost at the same time. We look forward to hearing from organizations tackling green IT."

"Aberdeen research indicates a strong and growing interest in Green and Sustainability," said Andrew Boyd, President of Aberdeen. "Our depth of technology expertise and data positions us well for providing actionable reports for our readership. These are global concerns and Aberdeen recognizes its responsibility to provide leadership in these areas."

The Green IT and Sustainability practice will focus on the business use of Green IT and the sustainability challenges of the IT and communication industries.

Coverage areas include: the greening of data centers, servers, storage, security, networks and desktops; green solutions, such as consolidation, virtualization, outsourcing, cloud services, power management, e-waste, and recycling; business systems, such as life-cycle management, energy management, carbon management, and capital management; and applications, such as telepresence, collaboration, and unified communication.

Look for upcoming benchmark reports and industry insights to come out of this research practice later this year.
