Aberdeen Group Relaunches ERP Research Practice, Renamed "Business Planning and Execution"

New Name Reflects Emphasis on Enterprise-Level Applications Supporting Business Strategy, Process Design and Integration, Implementation

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - May 1, 2013) - Aberdeen Group, a Harte-Hanks Company (NYSE: HHS), today announced that it has renamed its "Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)" research practice to "Business Planning and Execution (BPE)" to more accurately represent the practice emphasis on enterprise-level applications supporting business strategy, process design and integration, and implementation.

Specific topic areas addressed by the BPE research practice include Business Process Management (BPM), Enterprise Performance Management (EPM), Professional Services Automation (PSA), Project Management, ERP, as well as financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.

"ERP originated in the manufacturing industry, but the business landscape has changed significantly since the concept and term were first coined," according to Nick Castellina, Senior Research Analyst, Business Planning and Execution. "ERP became the default term for application integration even as the concept expanded into industries and disciplines such as accounting and human resources. BPE reflects a broader range of activities across all industries."

Research activities by the BPE research practice will examine industry trends surrounding enterprise-level applications, and the ways in which those tools can be used by senior executives and heads of Line-of-Business (LoB) to make better-informed, data-driven business and technology-acquisition decisions.

Working with Nick Castellina is Senior Research Associate Peter Krensky, who holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Amherst College.
