Aberdeen Launches Enterprise Social Collaboration Research Study, Invites Industry Participation

Study Will Explore State of Workplace Collaboration, Strategic Initiatives Adopted Around Social Business, and Capabilities, Processes, Technology Applied

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - Aug 7, 2013) - Aberdeen Group, a Harte-Hanks Company (NYSE: HHS), today announced the launch of a new Enterprise Social Collaboration (ESC) research study that will explore the state of collaboration in the modern workplace, key strategic initiatives being adopted around social business, and the capabilities, processes, and technology used by high-performing firms to get the job done in the new age of social business. Aberdeen's ESC survey is now live at: http://www.aberdeen.com/survey/0607-ESC.

In addition to receiving the resulting research reports from each of the participating research practices, Aberdeen ESC survey participants will be invited to attend an exclusive presentation of early findings from the study.

"It's no secret that the way we work has changed considerably over the past ten years, whether it's the rise of telecommuting, ubiquitous mobile connectivity, or simply a more geographically-distributed workforce, the traditional office environment that we once knew is a thing of the past," according Andrew Borg, Research Director, for the Aberdeen Enterprise Mobility and Collaboration practice. "This study will examine the impact of effective team work across across several disciplines within an organization's overall structure."

The study will examine collaboration within the following areas:

  • Human Capital Management: Aberdeen's Human Capital Management practice will be looking at how organizations use collaboration to support better decisions around talent, as well as improving individual and organizational performance.
  • Sales: Aberdeen research shows that Best-in-Class sales results accrue from cultures with the most evolved "tribal knowledge" environments. This doesn't mean that millennial, tech-savvy sales reps aren't as competitive as their forebears; they simply understand better than the "Glengarry generation" that getting to President's Club can be enabled by what they learn from their colleagues.
  • Marketing: Aberdeen's research shows that high-performing marketing teams are more likely to collaborate effectively across the organization, especially with their sales counterparts. ESC for marketing will examine how high-performing marketing teams organize and collaborate for success, whether planning a new campaign or executing the next customer conference.
  • Customer Care: Delivering superior customer experiences is no easy endeavor. Enterprise social collaboration is a key enabler that helps companies streamline the processes employees use to exchange information and make educated business decisions that support their ability to deliver personalized and consistent customer messages.
  • Enterprise Mobility: The deeply engaged collaborative enterprise doesn't start and stop within the confines of the physical workplace. The 24/7 reality of today's Social-Mobile-Cloud (#SoMoClo) business environment demands that collaboration take place at the right time, the right place, and with the right team -- wherever they are. Mobile ESC will identify the fundamental role that mobility plays in enabling high-performance teams, utilizing full-contact collaboration anywhere, anyplace, anytime.
