Aberdeen Relaunches Communications Research Practice, Renamed "Enterprise Mobility & Collaboration"

New Name Reflects Rising Importance of User and Context Within Mobile Technology

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - Mar 28, 2013) - Aberdeen Group, a Harte-Hanks Company (NYSE: HHS), today announced that it has renamed its "Communications" research practice to "Enterprise Mobility and Collaboration" to more accurately represent the practice's emphasis on assessing business performance and best practices for Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM), Mobile Application Management (MAM), Mobile Application Development and Deployment, Unified Communications & Collaboration (UC&C), and SoMoClo™, the Social Mobile Cloud construct.

Specific topic areas addressed by the Enterprise Mobility and Collaboration (EM&C) research practice include Bring Your Own Device (BYOD), Mobility Managed Services, Mobile Policy Compliance, Crowdsourcing, Social Business, Video Collaboration, Mobile Healthcare, Mobile Business Intelligence, Mobile Marketing, Open Source, and Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication technologies.

"Although still widely used to describe all-things-mobile, communications is really a term from an era when mobility was seen as the sole domain of telecomm providers," according to Andrew Borg, Research Director, Enterprise Mobility and Collaboration. "Enterprise mobility and collaboration is more descriptive of Aberdeen's past, present, and future research direction. It captures the core of Aberdeen's research in which both IT decision makers and technology vendors are most interested -- that content, context, and the user are what matters most, and not just the connections."

Research findings from the EM&C research practice will support senior executives and heads of Line-of Business (LoB) by providing the data-driven insights required to make better-informed business and technology-acquisition decisions.

Working with Andrew Borg is Research Associate Stuart Rowe, who holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Network Administration, with a Minor in Network Security, from Alfred State College (SUNY).
