Abington, Pa. Huntington Learning Center Announces Winner of Huntington's College Scholarship Sweepstakes

ORADELL, NJ--(Marketwired - Aug 19, 2013) - Huntington Learning Center announced the winner of its College Scholarship Sweepstakes this week, which ended on June 30, 2013. Taryn Candy of Dresher, Pa. received a $500 scholarship toward future college tuition and fees. Candy is a senior at Upper Dublin High School and is interested in studying business at Pennsylvania State University.

"We were excited to learn that Taryn had won this scholarship," said Robyn Candy, Taryn's mother. "It means a lot to get a little help toward college."

"Huntington is a proud supporter of high school students who strive to attend college, and we are excited to assist Taryn with her college tuition," said Darryl Benjamin, Center Director of the Abington Huntington Learning Center. "This scholarship is a great boost for any student heading off to college. We also feel proud that many of our exam prep students receive scholarships after they go through Huntington's program and increase their SAT or ACT scores."

The Abington Huntington Learning Center opened more than 30 years ago and is one of Huntington's oldest centers. According to Benjamin, who has owned the center since 2005, approximately 25 percent of the center's students come from educator families. The center's average SAT score increase for students who complete their exam prep program is 279 points. "In a short amount of time, we are able to enhance students' skills -- not only on the SAT or ACT, but in the classroom. Our exam prep students improve their test-taking abilities overall."

Huntington Learning Center locations across the country participated in Huntington's College Scholarship Sweepstakes. High school students ages 14 and older are eligible to enter, as are parents, grandparents and friends of high school students attending college after graduation. Entries are submitted via text message and Huntington awards one $500 scholarship every quarter.
