AC by Jay Adds Green Arizona Heating and Cooling to Habitat for Humanity Home

PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwire - September 29, 2009) - Air Conditioning by Jay proudly contributed green Arizona heating and cooling technology to a showcase Habitat for Humanity home. Lead by the Salt River Materials Group (SRMG), AC by Jay and other Phoenix area contractors demonstrated environmentally friendly building technologies in Arizona's first concrete Habitat for Humanity home.

The Habitat for Humanity home was constructed with above-grade concrete walls, a conditioned attic space with spray foam in the roof deck, energy efficient windows and high efficiency LENNOX air conditioning and heating equipment installed by AC by Jay. This home earned the coveted "Net Zero" energy designation. Thanks to additional green products, the project will earn the LEED® for Homes Platinum designation.

AC by Jay installs geothermal Phoenix heating and cooling systems which are the greenest of all systems. Heat is transferred into the ground rather than the air. As a result, the systems are not forced to work in extreme temperatures resulting in an increased life expectancy. A long life means less money spent replacing systems that wear down.

The home was constructed with HercuWall™ EPS foam and reinforced concrete. The environment will be strong, comfortable, safe, quiet and free of damaging termites. The wall system, attic insulation and energy efficient windows and doors make this home energy efficient to reduce utility costs by 40 to 60 percent. Other green features include an integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) solar roof system, concrete roof files, concrete countertops, integral color concrete floors and pervious concrete driveway.

Since 1983, AC by Jay controlled the temperature of over 30,000 homes and businesses in the Phoenix area. Known by many as the leading Phoenix heating and air conditioning service company, AC by Jay also handles system designs, system replacement, tenant improvements, light commercial applications, new construction, remodels and green geothermal solutions for most applications.

The Habitat for Humanity home was selected from among 200 entries to be in the "Contemporary Desert Living Tour" sponsored by the U.S. Green Building Council. In November, the home will be featured at the Greenbuild® International Conference and Expo in Phoenix. Green innovators will be looking closely at work performed by generous project donors.
