NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - September 28, 2010) - Encore Music Presents Records announces two new recordings from Academy Award Winning actress/singer Shirley Jones. Ms. Jones is known to generations of fans as Marian in "The Music Man" and as Shirley Partridge in "The Partridge Family" television series. Both recordings were produced by Les Brown Jr. for Rayburt Productions, and pair the delightful Ms. Jones with Les Brown Jr.'s Band of Renown. The recordings are:
A Touch of Christmas -- featuring holiday classics including "Silver Bells" and "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" as well as the duet, "Baby It's Cold Outside," sung with Tony Orlando.
Shirley Jones -- A Tribute to Richard Rodgers -- featuring ten Rodgers and Hart and Rodgers and Hammerstein favorites. In the 1950s, Richard Rodgers was one of the first major songwriters to recognize and champion the talent of Ms. Jones. The disc includes "It Never Entered My Mind," "Falling In Love With Love" and "Bewitched (Bothered and Bewildered)."
"I found that Shirley speaks in a rich, lower register," commented Les Brown Jr., "and we decided to record in an intimate style closer to her speaking voice. Shirley Jones is a versatile film, stage and television actress whose roles have run the gamut from the iconic Marian to her Oscar winning role as prostitute LuLu Bains in "Elmer Gantry." Ms. Jones was recently nominated for an Emmy Award for her role as a boozy chanteuse on "The Cleaner" and has received several other Emmy and Golden Globe nominations in her career. In a hilarious three episode story-line, she played Drew Carey's older love interest on "The Drew Carey" show during the 1998-1999 season. Ms. Jones maintains a busy concert schedule, and has two film projects set for release in 2011.
