"Academy Awards Preview" Magazine Released

HOLLYWOOD, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- February 13, 2007 -- Platinum Publications and Marcie Polier, the founder of Nielsen EDI, announced the release of one of Hollywood's mainstay Oscar publications, The Academy Awards Preview, in time for the 79th (2007) Annual Academy Awards. First published in 1988 under the name The Academy Award Handicap, the magazine featured trends, published the wagered odds from Las Vegas, and offered predictions based on a professional, proprietary analysis honed by Polier and staff.

ACNielsen purchased EDI in 1997 and stopped publishing the magazine in 2004. After a two-year hiatus, the publication returned, re-formatted, re-titled, and packed with the industry's insider information. "Our data makes the Academy Award coverage quantifiable," Polier explained. Polier was originally prompted to create the magazine after witnessing media hosts fumble with misstated facts about the movies and very little at all to say about the actual business of the business. Once she provided the research, the media began to rely on the publication to help prepare for the Oscar specials. Word spread and soon all of Hollywood, from the studios, media, agencies, salons, restaurants and parties were utilizing the publication to prepare for the Oscars, Polier said.

Partnering with Platinum Publications has allowed the magazine to blossom into a larger, more in-depth format. For over 25 years, Platinum has been widely respected for producing uniquely high-quality publications for the entertainment and hospitality industries.

The Academy Awards Preview features 'handicaps' of all the major Oscar races, as well as historical research on diverse Awards-related themes, including KTLA's Sam Rubin's Red Carpet Rules, 'The Red, the Blue and the Ugly' which explains the impact at the box office when directors and stars let their personal biases get in the way, as well as 'The Soul of Hollywood,' a look at how much money is on the feet of the stars who are on the Red Carpet, and suggestions on special Oscar-themed menus. The Academy Awards Preview will be distributed to industry insiders, restaurants and hotels, sold on newsstands in West Los Angeles, Hollywood and the San Fernando Valley and distributed to private homes. Copies can be obtained by contacting Platinum Publications at (310) 312-3663, or visit the Academy Awards Preview on-line site at http://www.aapreview.com

This year, Women and Wine is throwing a special launch party for the Academy Awards Preview at the Museum of Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in Los Angeles. Approximately 250 guests will taste the five wines Women & Wine has chosen to match the five Best Picture nominees and tour the Art of Costume Design exhibits.
