Accela Automation Continues to Lead Industry in Web-Based E-Government Applications

Most Extensive Release To-Date Includes Strategic Enhancements to Its Signature Products

SAN RAMON, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- July 10, 2006 -- Accela, Inc., the leader in providing government automation solutions, announced today the most extensive release of its signature Web-based enterprise application, Accela Automation®. The release of version 6.2 consists of key strategic enhancements that make agencies more efficient internally, and elevate customer service levels for agency constituents.

"The release of Accela Automation brings us one step closer to our vision of automating the entire government agency from A to Z," stated Dr. Robert P. Lee, Accela's president and CEO. "This vision not only includes the delivery of advanced e-government solutions for managing and tracking day-to-day activities, but also includes building out a dynamic partner network that our clients can leverage to further complete their solution."

Building on the portal-based architecture in Accela Automation, this release tightly integrates Microsoft Outlook, incorporating new portlets that display agency end-users' Outlook Inbox and Outlook Calendar. The ability to perform Outlook functions from within these portlets and integrate with calendaring functionality in Accela Automation, such as scheduling building inspections, increases efficiency for the agency -- all business tasks and communications can be performed within a single interface.

Accela Automation's robust inspection scheduling feature ensures accuracy in assigning internal inspection resources to specific job sites. Reviewing the inspector's district, workload, calendar, and discipline (type of inspector), inspections are automatically assigned to an inspector by the system. Additionally, this feature allows citizens and contractors to schedule inspections online in real-time.

Agency staff can now provide cost estimates on development projects prior to generating a case, application, or permit. Based on type of construction, square footage, parking stalls, and other criteria, an estimated cost is automatically calculated by the system. This feature enhances customer service by providing citizens and contractors with increased plan flexibility before starting the official application process.

Accela Automation now fully expands across departments including public works, water utilities, sanitary districts, facilities, transportation, and parks and recreation, providing the agency with an end-to-end solution for all land and asset management activities. Agencies can track reactive and preventative maintenance for all agency assets and resources using Accela Automation. Learn more about Accela Asset Management.

In conjunction with the Accela Automation release, all of its add-on products that expand the processing capabilities of the backend system were released, incorporating significant new functionality. These products include:

Accela Citizen Access™: New inspection management functions allow citizen users to streamline their interactions with government agencies online. Also, citizens will be able to validate a contractor's licensing status online. Learn more about Accela Citizen Access.

Accela GIS™: The 6.2 release supports greater flexibility for end-users by adding additional tools to the editing and redlining functions, providing automatic map service saving, enhanced print and save output functionality, and more. Learn more about Accela GIS.

Accela IVR™: Users will now be able to pay the total balance on a case, application, or permit by credit card; administrators can then automatically generate receipts via email or fax. In addition, for permit verification purposes, Accela IVR is able to read the associated address back to a caller after selecting a case, application, or permit. Learn more about Accela IVR.

Accela Wireless™: Users will be able to change the time limitation for scheduled tasks; attach a contact phone number to an inspection; display parcel, owner, and contact information; and update, reschedule, and cancel multiple inspections in one process. Learn more about Accela Wireless.
