Accela, Inc. Introduces Accela Analytics iPad App for Government Professionals

First-of-Its-Kind App Packages Enterprise Data Into User-Friendly, Graphical Dashboard of Trends and Activity

SAN RAMON, CA--(Marketwire - January 24, 2011) - Accela, Inc., the leading provider of Web-based and mobile software applications for e-government, today announced the availability of Accela Analytics™, the industry's first iPad app that gives government workers the ability to quickly access and analyze the enterprise data behind their operations in an easy, intuitive dashboard format. The fully native app leverages the complete functionality of Apple's highly popular tablet computer and can immediately be downloaded for free from the iTunes store.

Accela Analytics accesses information from an agency's Accela Automation® enterprise software -- which is deployed by hundreds of governments serving a combined population of nearly 80 million across the United States -- and provides a graphical display of the latest trends and activities in critical areas such as: permit and license applications and inspections, code enforcement cases, work orders, service requests, and much more. With Accela Analytics, government professionals can obtain an instant overview to help them optimize their resources, deliver improved services, and make effective decisions.

"Government transparency isn't just important for the public. It's also vital to give critical workers a window into the impact of enterprise technology on their operations, wherever and whenever they need it," said Maury Blackman, Accela CEO and President. "Accela Analytics not only helps governments make more effective use of their massive data warehouses, but the iPad's portability and ease-of-use make it an ideal home for a dashboard like this. Accela Analytics really puts the iPad to work for government."

Accela Analytics offers a number of ways for government users to seamlessly interact with their data to obtain a broad view or detailed analyses. The app's home screen provides a high-level snapshot with access to charts, maps, and watch lists for specific records.

  • Tracking trends:  Charts allow administrators to see how their organization is performing over time. Drop-down menus allow user-defined searches, and color-coded lines in the charts represent the various kinds of data selected, such as application trends and inspections workloads.
  • Activity by location: Accela Analytics also displays data on a map, providing an overview of the volume and types of activity happening within a jurisdiction. Color-coded push pins display activity for user-defined dates and geographic criteria, with zoom-and-pan navigation for easier research.
  • Detailed records: Users can create watch lists of specific records they want to follow, allowing for drill-down access to key information. Lists can be easily modified or removed without affecting any back-end data.

"Accela Analytics is another cutting-edge tool from Accela that meets a real business need," said Orion Goff, Certified Building Official and Director of Building Services and Code Compliance at long-time Accela customer Salt Lake City. "Like the best iPad apps, it requires minimal set-up or configuration and is easy to use. Beyond tracking building trends and real-time activity, we see a lot of potential uses for this exciting app that will meet our unique needs."

Accela Analytics is currently available for the iPad but is planned for other tablet and slate platforms, such as Android and Windows 7. It's the first of many planned apps from Accela, which will run on a range of devices and address additional user profiles.

"For governments trying to do more with less, empowering workers will increasingly mean getting the right information to the right worker on the devices they use," Blackman noted. "Targeted apps like Accela Analytics will become the norm."

Requirements
Accela Analytics requires a registered Accela Automation account and use of Accela Automation 7.0.5 Service Pack 3 or higher. Additional information, including a video demonstration, can be found at: www.accela.com/products/device_applications.asp
