Accell Showcases the World's Longest SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Cable

Active Cable Solution Enables SuperSpeed USB Signal Transmission at Lengths of up to 6 Meters

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - September 22, 2009) - Intel Developers Forum (IDF) -- Accell, a provider of premium audio/video interconnects and computer cables, today announced the debut of their line of cables supporting the new SuperSpeed USB 3.0 standard. Accell's new SuperSpeed USB 3.0 cables support long cable runs of up to 6 meters and can be viewed at the Intel Developers Forum on September 22-24, booth 427.

SuperSpeed USB brings significant performance enhancements to the current Hi-Speed USB standard. Featuring a 5 Gbps signaling rate, it offers a 10x performance increase over Hi-Speed USB as well as improved power efficiency. USB 3.0 is backwards compatible with the billions of USB enabled devices currently deployed in the market.

"Cable length limitations have been viewed as a critical challenge with SuperSpeed USB," said Tenny Sin, Accell's Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "Engineering SuperSpeed USB cables that can operate at signaling rates of up to 5 Gbps and in lengths longer than 3 meters up until now have been illusive."

The SuperSpeed USB cables by Accell will be available in 1m, 2m, 3m, 4m, 5m and 6m lengths with prices starting at $19.99 MSRP. The 4m, 5m and 6m lengths feature active cable technology that enables the data to travel at SuperSpeed signaling rates over long distances. The active cables require no external power and are able to obtain these long runs over compact 32-gauge wire.
