Acclaimed CEO of Sapient Financial Group Announces Retirement

SAN ANTONIO, TX--(Marketwire - Nov 4, 2011) - Frank Woodruff, CEO and General Agent of San Antonio-based Sapient Financial Group, a general agency of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual), announced he will retire on Aug. 1, 2012, after leading the firm for 13 years.

Under Woodruff's guidance, Sapient Financial Group grew to earn a third-place ranking in the 2011 list of Largest Financial Planning and Advisory Firms in San Antonio by the San Antonio Business Journal. During his tenure, the firm saw exceptional growth in assets serviced, increasing from $33 million in 1998 to $560 million* in 2010; and life insurance coverage in force almost doubled from $2.3 billion 1998 to $4.0 billion in 2010.

Also, during that 13-year period, Woodruff oversaw his organization's increase of licensed financial professionals from 30 to 55, with offices expanding throughout South-Central Texas to include Corpus Christi, McAllen and Victoria in addition to San Antonio and Austin.

"Frank's contribution to the South-Central Texas economy has been significant on several levels," said John Vaccaro, Senior Vice President of MassMutual's U.S. Insurance Group. "Not only has he mentored numerous financial professionals throughout his time with Sapient Financial, helping them establish successful practices, since 2004, the agency has contributed nearly $100 million to the local economy in the form of death and disability claims and tens of millions of dollars in dividends from whole life insurance and retirement benefits.

"And perhaps most notably, under Frank's tutelage, the firm has aided myriad Texans and businesses in their efforts to make informed financial decisions," Vaccaro said. "In turn, many thousands of clients' family members and employees have benefited."

Woodruff has been repeatedly lauded for his leadership qualities -- notably, he was recognized for exemplification of ethical behavior in the 2009 Ethics in Business in Business Initiative. His operation has also been repeatedly honored by the San Antonio Business Journal with Best Places to Work Awards, as well as by the San Antonio Express News with Top Workplace Awards.

To ensure a smooth transition, Woodruff's successor will be appointed in the near future and will act as Sapient Financial Group's co-CEO and General Agent until Woodruff retires next year.
