Accounting Firm Marks Paneth & Shron Appoints New Partner and Two Principals

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - Jan 22, 2013) - Accounting firm Marks Paneth & Shron LLP (MP&S) has named a new partner and principal to its Tax Practice and a new principal to its Litigation and Corporate Financial Advisory Services Group.

The new partner and principals are based in MP&S's Manhattan headquarters:

• Dawn Rhodes, CPA, Partner in the Tax Practice, 41, assists individuals and closely held businesses with tax planning and consulting services. Specializing in matters related to the real estate industry, estates and trusts and high-net-worth individuals, she also has expertise in partnerships, limited liability companies and corporations. She joined Lipziger & Breskin LLP in 1994 which combined with MP&S in 2006. Ms. Rhodes holds a B.S. in Accounting from the State University of New York at Oneonta and a M.S. in Accounting from Binghamton University. A member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, she is a resident of Staten Island, New York.
  
  
• Paul Bercovici, LL.B., Principal in the Tax Practice, 55, advises clients, both US citizens and foreign nationals, on international tax issues associated with living in and outside the United States. He also assists foreign and domestic corporations with structuring their US and offshore operations. He joined MP&S in 2009 and holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Windsor. Mr. Bercovici is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the International Fiscal Association (USA Branch) and the International Tax Institute. He resides in Larchmont, New York.
  
  
• Josefina Tranfa-Abboud, Ph.D., Principal in the Litigation and Corporate Financial Advisory Services Group, 48, provides clients with economic analysis related to modelling and estimation of economic damages in labor and employment disputes, as well as commercial disputes involving claims of breach of contract and business interruption. She also performs research, statistical analysis and damages analysis and serves as an expert witness for both plaintiffs and defendants. Dr. Tranfa-Abboud also provides transfer pricing analysis services to mid-market corporations with cross-border affiliates, as well as other economic consulting services to our corporate clients. She joined MP&S in 2007 and holds a B.S. in Economics from Universidad Central de Venezuela and a Ph.D. in Economics from Florida State University. Dr. Tranfa-Abboud is also fluent in Spanish and Italian. She is a resident of Morristown, New Jersey.
