Acer Secures Number One Position in Canadian Notebook Market, Capturing Highest Share in Acer Canada's History

Acer Canada Leads the PC Market With Number One Share in Notebooks, Number One Share in Displays and Number Two Share in Overall PCs in Q1 2011

MISSISSAUGA, ON--(Marketwire - May 31, 2011) - Continuing its momentum in the Canadian PC market, Acer captured the number one notebook position in Q1 2011 based on shipments with a 25.3 percent share of the market, according to data from Gartner.(1) Acer also held a commanding position in overall PC sales as the number two provider of computing products.

Acer's lead in the mobile computing space was more than seven points, with the number two competitor holding only 17.8 percent of the market. Already a strong number two contender in the notebook category throughout 2010, Acer posted impressive year-on-year growth of 25.8 percent, selling 281,884 units. Acer Canada sold a total of 365,132 PCs to secure 20.3 percent of the overall PC market, its highest share position in company history.

In the related display category, Acer remained the number one provider of LCDs and LEDs in Canada for the 25th consecutive quarter according to additional research by Partner Research Corporation (PRC). The company sold 96,099 LCD and LED displays in the first quarter with 16 percent market share.
