LAC-DROLET, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Nov. 29, 2016) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
Businesses need to be able to rely on adequate resources to create and commercialize their innovative products. The Government of Canada is committed to supporting innovative Canadian enterprises. As a true economic driver, innovation is the key to success because it generates growth that benefits Canadian businesses and communities.
The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, announced that Acier Fastech Inc. has been granted $300,000 in financial assistance, in the form of a repayable contribution, to automate its manufacturing processes and modernize its plant.
Created in 2002, Acier Fastech Inc. specializes in the design, manufacture and installation of steel structures for commercial, institutional, industrial and mining sectors. The enterprise, which has 40 employees, stands out because of its versatility and ability to quickly adapt its production line to fill specific orders. In 2012, the SME invested in a 12,000-square-foot spray room, allowing it to obtain contracts for architectural and industrial projects requiring the application of specialized paint. The business, whose clientele comes from Quebec and Nunavut, also exports its structures to other countries as a subcontractor for major prime manufacturers.
The funding granted under CED's Quebec Economic Development Program (QEDP) will enable Acier Fastech to purchase a robotic cutting system, a precipitator and a conveyor to increase its production capacity and productivity. In addition to reducing releases thanks to the robotic cutting system, the enterprise will also be able to more effectively manage the raw materials, improve its competitiveness and help preserve the environment.
"By supporting innovation in manufacturing, the Government of Canada is helping businesses invest in their future and expand. Key investments such as the one in Acier Fastech help grow the Canadian economy."
The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister responsible for CED
"The support from Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions has given us the boost we needed to carry out this major project. The financial assistance will support the implementation of leading-edge technology, allowing us to reduce our production turnaround time and provide our clients with even better service."
Claude Roussin, Eng., President, Acier Fastech
