Acquia Bolsters Executive Team, Names Bill Sorenson Chief Financial Officer

Key Executive Appointments Help Acquia Capitalize on Growing Market Opportunity of Digital Business Optimization

BURLINGTON, MA--(Marketwired - May 22, 2014) - Acquia, the digital business company, announces the appointment of software industry veteran Bill Sorenson as chief financial officer. He will oversee all finance functions for Acquia, including reporting, planning, treasury and investor relations, and will report to CEO Tom Erickson. In addition to Sorenson, Michael Cayer has also been appointed to the executive team as general counsel.

Acquia continues its rapid growth as organizations look for solutions to help drive their digital transformation. The company was recently named the fastest growing private company in North America on Deloitte's 2013 Technology Fast 500, and listed among Inc. magazine's Build 100 for achieving significant, sustained growth during the past five years. Acquia's solutions build digital-first businesses by increasing margins, delivering services more efficiently, improving citizen engagement and more.

"Acquia is at the forefront of the digital revolution. Enterprises increasingly rely on Acquia to drive business impact and escape obsolescence," Erickson said. "As Acquia accelerates its momentum, we've brought in Bill and Michael, both of whom have a proven track record of taking fast-growth companies public, and with these new hires, we're well positioned for continued growth."

Sorenson was previously the CFO of Qlik Technologies, a leader in business intelligence, where he drove the company through its IPO and helped grow it from $118 million to almost $400 million in revenue. Sorenson also led finance operations for major mobile and media companies as CFO at EMI Music Publishing and the Bertlesmann eCommerce Group, which funded Napster, as well as at several early stage start ups. Prior to that he served as senior VP of global finance at News Corporation.

"From global enterprises to governments and nonprofits, all realize that investing in digital business is an obligation, not a choice," Sorenson said. "Acquia's track-record of delivering results for Global 2000 organizations have led the company to achieve 20 consecutive quarters of growth. I'm excited to become a part of the executive team that will lead the company to new heights."

Joining the executive team as general counsel, Michael Cayer previously served as general counsel at BladeLogic, where he managed the company's IPO process and eventual sale to BMC Software for more than $870 million. He has held the position of general counsel at several other public and private companies.
