Acquia Strengthens Security Team, Appoints Chief Information Security Officer

Alan Nugent Leads Company's Practices for Compliance and Risk Mitigation for Internal Systems and Products

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - Jul 10, 2015) - Acquia, the digital experience company, today announced the appointment of Alan Nugent as its Chief Information Security Officer. Nugent will lead Acquia's practices around security, compliance, and governance for its IT systems and operations as well as its products.

"Organizations of all sizes, and in all industries, are at risk. Even though there may be intermittent media focus on particular industries, such as financial services or government, no industry is immune to security failures," stated the April 2015 Forrester Research, Inc. report Security Leaders, Earn Your Seat at the Table. The report continues, "Fifty-four percent of enterprise business decision-makers are either highly or extremely concerned about reputational risk today, and this figure will keep growing."

Nugent joins Acquia's executive team to lead the company's security practices and ensure Acquia customers operate in a highly secure environment that complies with industry standards such as FedRAMP, HIPAA, FISMA, SOC 1, SOC 2, and PCI-DSS. Acquia offers powerful solutions to meet a wide range of compliance and security needs for these organizations.

"Security is top of mind for CIOs and technology executives everywhere," said Tom Erickson, Acquia CEO. "Acquia is focused on every dimension of security, risk and compliance from our internal systems and technologies, through the entire product portfolio. From the open source roots he developed at Novell to his experience leading and advising SaaS companies, Alan brings outstanding credentials to the task. He'll be a strong asset for our team and for our customers."

Acquia provides a leading cloud platform for building, delivering, and optimizing digital experiences with greater resiliency. Organizations use the massively scalable Acquia Platform to unify content, community, and commerce. The Acquia Platform supports the increasingly complex requirements for digital experience delivery, providing security across every layer of its architecture. It features granular access control, two-factor authentication, vulnerability scanning, intrusion detection, and event monitoring.

"Acquia plays a critical role in the digital experiences and IT strategies of our customers," Nugent said. "We have a world-class team of engineering and security professionals at Acquia, and we're passionate and committed to our customers' success."

Nugent served in both CTO and CIO roles at Novell, CA, Xerox and Munich Re, and as CEO at social software maker Mzinga before becoming a board member for Telogis and Adaptive Computing. Earlier in his career, he founded three startup companies and began his journey as a software engineer and manager at HP. Nugent also authored "Big Data for Dummies," and was the lead technical editor for "Cognitive Computing and Big Data Analytics," both published by Wiley.
