Act II, Inc. Celebrates 50 Year Anniversary

Local Business Continues to Thrive With Original Owner Still at the Helm

KANSAS CITY, MO--(Marketwire - September 9, 2010) - This year, Gloria Everhart, founder and owner of Act II, Inc., Kansas City's oldest continuously operating clothing consignment shop, will celebrate fifty years in business.

From its inception, Act II has offered previously owned designer clothing and accessories to price conscious fashion lovers at a fraction of the original cost.

Everhart was an ambitious young mother of five small children when she began Act II.
She loved her role as wife and mother, but felt something was missing. "I couldn't just stay at home and change diapers," she explains.

High fashion had always been an integral part of Everhart's life, so it was only natural for her to be drawn toward working with clothing. Her love of designer styles and the need to develop a business without monetary investment inspired the creation of Act II.

Act II began modestly, operating literally from the front porch of Everhart's Kansas City home. Trusting her integrity and her promise of confidentiality, some of the Kansas City area's best dressed women placed their gently used designer clothing in Gloria's hands to be sold. Open by appointment only, Everhart was able to share her flair for fashion and style while building her business. Eventually, Act II opened as a full service resale boutique, including men's fashions as well as those for women.

Five decades later, the Act II tradition thrives. Consignors throughout the US continue to trust Everhart's integrity and ability to give their no longer worn designer clothing and accessories a new life in someone else's closet. And, of course, Act II shoppers love the opportunity to purchase unique designer outfits at a savings of 50 - 80% off of retail.

On Saturday, September 25, Everhart and her staff will officially mark Act II's half century of accomplishments with a day long celebration. The public is invited to the event which will feature a display highlighting Act II's history, gift with purchase offers, special sales and free refreshments throughout the day.

"It's exciting to think about, but for now, I'll just work on the next twenty-five," quips Everhart about the start of Act II's next fifty years. She sites integrity, high quality and value pricing as key elements of Act II's longevity.
