Active Motif Launches AKS2 Literature Mining System

CARLSBAD, CA and MADRID, SPAIN -- (MARKET WIRE) -- September 18, 2006 -- Active Motif, Inc. is pleased to announce the launch of its latest text mining system, AKS2 (almaKnowledgeServer™) from bioalma. The newly-designed interface of AKS2 enables rapid exploration of not only disease, gene, and compound topics found in published literature but also drug, symptom, and biomedical relationships as well. AKS2 automatically analyzes all published abstracts from Medline, classifies all relevant terms into categories, and applies sophisticated text mining techniques based on contextual information. This opens the door to exploring biomedical literature in a whole new way.

"AKS2 utilizes cutting-edge text mining technologies and easy-to-use visual navigation tools to aid researchers with uncovering biological relationships described in the scientific literature." Juan Carlos del Castillo, CEO for bioalma, explained, "The significant graphical interface improvements of AKS2 bring literature text mining technology to the bench scientist."

Joseph Fernandez, CEO of Active Motif, commented, "We are excited to provide the new and enhanced AKS2 software system to our customers. Now, they can better understand the data obtained from our unique assay kits for analyzing nuclear function, as well as predict their next intriguing experiment by deciphering the literature for novel and interesting biological relationships."
