Active Voice Provides Unified Messaging to Largest Health Authority in British Columbia

Fraser Health Enhances Its Communications Network With Active Voice Kinesis* Unified Messaging Solution

SEATTLE, WA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- July 21, 2005 -- Active Voice, LLC, a global provider of unified messaging, computer telephony, and voice messaging solutions, today announced that it has been chosen by Fraser Health, British Columbia's largest health authority, to provide unified messaging technology for its voice and data network. Active Voice's Kinesis* unified messaging solution will enhance the performance of Fraser Health's existing communications infrastructure, helping the organization streamline its operations and provide optimum patient care.

Active Voice will begin implementing six Kinesis unified messaging systems into the Fraser Health network later this year. The systems will eventually support 20,000 employees at 140 locations throughout southwest British Columbia. Active Voice will help in consolidating Fraser Health's communications infrastructure, which consists of several disparate voice mail platforms. The new Kinesis unified messaging systems can help improve staff productivity by delivering voice, fax, and e-mail messages directly to each employee's inbox, allowing medical and administrative personnel to quickly share information and simplify communications across the organization. The Active Voice Kinesis systems will be fully networked with several NEC NEAXMail® AD-120 unified messaging systems to support the NEC and Nortel telephone switches used by Fraser. In addition, the new unified messaging systems will take advantage of clustering and OAI (Open Applications Interface) integration capabilities to allow for high-capacity redundant systems that will operate if one server fails, a common concern for organizations with multiple sites and a large number of users.

"We've found that NEC companies consistently deliver a complete portfolio of products and services to meet our specific needs, and Active Voice is no exception," said Jim Taylor, manager of Network Services, Fraser Health. "We needed a unified messaging solution that could integrate with our existing networks and expand as our facility grows, and that's exactly what Active Voice provided."

"Active Voice's ability to deliver innovative communications solutions to enterprises like Fraser Health is the cornerstone of our business," said Victor T. Foia, president and chief executive officer of Active Voice, LLC. "Our strategy is to provide large organizations with flexible unified messaging systems that are designed to meet the unique requirements of their business - superior reliability, advanced functionality, and enhanced security."

Active Voice's Kinesis unified messaging system is designed for organizations requiring true unified messaging within a Microsoft® Exchange® environment. It harnesses the power of Microsoft Exchange and Windows® to provide a single point of administration, a single directory service and a single message store. With its internal, dedicated Microsoft Exchange server, Kinesis delivers scalability and reliability, while delivering all voice, fax and e-mail messages to the Microsoft Outlook® inbox. Because it supports both traditional telephone systems and Internet Protocol (IP) solutions, Kinesis helps organizations protect their existing investment and prepares them for a smooth transition into the converged environments of the future. Kinesis is available in 4- to 72-port configurations on a single Kinesis server, or several hundred ports on a cluster of servers.
