Government of Canada supports Canada Day celebrations in Thetford Mines


THETFORD MINES, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - July 1, 2015) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of International Development, Minister for La Francophonie and Member of Parliament (Mégantic-L'Érable), today announced $28,000 in funding to help the Ville de Thetford Mines hold Canada Day celebrations. Minister Paradis made this announcement on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

This funding, granted by the Government of Canada under the Celebrate Canada program, will help enhance the programming for residents and visitors in the Chaudière-Appalaches region attending the July 1 festivities.

  • The city's 16th Canada Day celebrations will take place at Parc Notre-Dame and Stade Desjardins.
  • Nearly 12,000 visitors are expected at the event, which will start at 1 p.m. and end with the traditional fireworks at 10 p.m.
  • The lineup includes the interactive show En l'air, which combines juggling, acrobatics, high-wire acts and comedy.
  • Family activities like Chumpai (a combination of bungee, trampoline and trapeze), Katag (a game with foam swords) and Slackline (a balance course on elastic straps strung between two trees) will also be offered.
