Activplant Unveils ActivEssentials™ 5

The Next Generation Performance Management Platform provides manufacturers with enhanced reporting and collaboration capabilities

INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA--(CCNMatthews - April 23, 2007) - Activplant, the standard in performance management solutions for the world's leading manufacturers, announced today the general release of ActivEssentials 5. The technology suite incorporates powerful, scalable and flexible components that work together to increase functionality and identify waste and operational inefficiencies that directly affect a company's bottom line.

"Over the past eight years, ActivEssentials has evolved to into a mature and robust platform," said Chuck Frosst, President, Activplant. "With this latest upgrade, we leverage open and interoperable architecture to ensure manufacturers have the right technology to harness plant floor information and advance their performance management initiatives."

ActivEssentials 5 signifies Activplant's commitment to delivering a performance management platform with the openness and interoperability to drive value to customers. Built on the Microsoft® .NET framework, ActivEssentials 5 ServicesOriented Architecture (SOA) model leverages powerful web services.

"Activplant's new performance management platform comes at a time when manufactures need plant floor visibility more than ever," said Ralph Rio, Research Director Enterprise Software, ARC Advisory Group. "The ActivEssentials platform delivers a complete set of tools for lean program enablement that is necessary for manufacturers to make the efficiency improvements that positively affect the bottom line and ultimately keep their company competitive."

Activplant's patented Universal Factory Data Model (UFDM) is at the core of ActivEssentials 5, and removes the complexity of data analysis by collecting and categorizing data in a standardized format. The software incorporates realtime data from the plant floor and packages it in actionable reports. Areas of focus for this latest upgrade included improving enterprise capabilities in data management, consolidation of data and improved security, and additional performance and general quality improvements. With new tools like the Query Builder, users have access to draganddrop query creation from the Activplant database and the ability to share this XML data with 3rd external software. By leveraging 3party services, ActivEssentials 5 delivers all of the traditional Activplant reports while introducing the ability to create them in the fully incorporated Microsoft Reporting Services.

"Our goal at Microsoft is to empower employees within manufacturing firms with the right information at the right time, so they are able to turn insight into action and ultimately drive business success," said Iain Urquhart, Managing Director, Microsoft's U.S. Manufacturing Industry Group. "Activplant supports that goal and continues to be an innovative partner. We are pleased to see how the company has embraced Microsoft software in development of this powerful performance management platform."

ActivEssentials 5 will be available for general release on April 23, 2007.
