Activu Mobility for Smartphones -- Extending the Power of Activu Into the Field

DENVILLE, NJ--(Marketwire - October 25, 2010) - Activu® Corporation, a leading provider of IP-based command and control room visualization and collaboration solutions, announces Activu Mobility for smartphones and other mobile devices. The new client applications allow command center and other mission critical visual information to be securely viewed in the field on Android smartphones, iPhones, iPads, rugged handhelds such as the Panasonic Toughbook® U1 and other mobile devices. Field personnel with smartphone cameras can also capture and instantly send photos and even full motion videos to the command center, or elsewhere, for display, analysis and/or archiving.

Key Features

Send Mode: In send mode photos and videos taken in the field are automatically tagged and photos can also be zoomed, cropped and annotated. They can then be remotely displayed, captioned with the sender's identity, time, location (actual address) and any annotation. Geocoding enables photos and videos to be automatically displayed in the correct location on an area map at the command center. Or Activu can be programmed to automatically select the appropriate background map(s) to add geographical context to photo and video content sent from the field.

View Mode: In view mode, even very high resolution content, such as an aggregated data wall display, can be perfectly viewed and scrolled through on a smartphone screen using multi-touch.

Control Mode: In addition, 'Control' mode allows a smartphone or wireless pad to act as a full function Activu remote control: in the command center, control room, briefing room, or in or from the field.

Access is secure and user defined. Exact functionality in each mode is determined by user login, defined for each individual or group and can be changed at any time. For added security, when the Activu mobile client application is closed no information is retained on the device.

"Although we are best known for our large data/video wall focused control room solutions, Activu is truly a network based enterprise visualization and collaboration solution running on COTS hardware," said Activu CEO, Paul Noble. "We see seamlessly connecting the command center with the field as a critical next step in the evolution of Activu as a tool for sharing mission critical visual information within organizations. We plan to add live streaming video so that each field operative could become an ad hoc real-time video surveillance node, streaming back to the command center."

Activu software, integrated with commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware components, is a proven network-based software solution that has been widely deployed in the DHS, Department of Defense and component federal agencies, as well as state and local Emergency Operation Centers (EOCs) to enhance situational awareness, decision making, and rapid response.

Activu Mobility will be featured October 25-27 at the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Conference, Panasonic booth 3007, Orlando, Florida. The new client application is planned for general availability in 1Q11. For more information visit www.activu.com/mobility
